Lesson Plan is an EdTech startup that was founded in 2020 by a group of teachers and business owners. The company was established to fill a gap in the education industry, where there is a lack of a one stop platform for trusted enrichment classes.
The goal of Lesson Plan is to to connect educators with students, while simplifying the parent’s search process and freeing the educator’s time to focus on teaching rather than administrative tasks.
In order to build a marketplace of enrichment classes, we had to first define the users, identify key user flows and build the information architecture.
Information gathering included:
The design system includes typography, colors, componnents and icons that fit with the company’s voice and identity.
Keeping in mind Lesson Plan’s branding guidelines, we created a design system to ensure visual consistency across screens.
Orange was chosen as the primary color to reflect the company’s passion and energy, to inspire youths and encourage learning. Blue to signify realiability and trustworthiness in the brand.
We began the design process with low fidelity wireframes to map out the basic contents and information architecture.
The lo-fi design was presented to stakeholders to get feedback on the UI elements and more crucially, the user flows and tasks.
With continuous feedback and iteration, we created a high fidelity prototype ready for development.
Depending on the type of class schedule a student is on, there are various payment options which includes recurring monthly subscriptions or pay as you go.
In order to cater to these options, we had to customise a payment system for educators to be able to have the flexibility to choose their prefered method of payment collection from their students.
Lesson Plan’s online platform went live at the end of 2021 with 2 schools and less than 30 teachers/students. In less than a year, they have increased these numbers exponentially. We continue to support and improve existing capabilities.
